Roger Allen
Roger has been a press photographer for 40 years, having started at a national press agency working in the darkroom printing pictures and running them round the daily papers of Fleet Street.
Since then he has worked at Today the first colour paper in the UK, and then went onto the Daily Mirror where he has been staff since 1986.
In that time he has covered everything from major events like Lockerbie (arriving within hours on Robert Maxwell's jet) the Bosnian wars and Afghanistan (on three separate occasions) to the all the day-to-day stories that a red top tabloid photographer has to cover.
He's a two times winner of the British Press Photographer of the Year, in 1995 and 2005, as well as numerous news, features and arts picture awards.
His work was featured in The BPPA retrospective book and exhibition Five Thousand Days.He is married with 3 daughters.
